Brandon F. Shamim

With over 20 years of versatile engagements, Brandon has facilitated strategic planning, led policy initiatives, engineered leadership and organizational change processes for private and government agencies in workforce and economic development, health care, transportation, energy, global trade industries.

Some of his clients include: LA County Workforce Investment Board, the LA Community Collee District, the City of LA Department of Water and Power, Ernst & Young, IBM Canada, Kaiser Permanente, Southern California Edison, Sempra Utilities, LA Metropolitan Transportation Agency, University of Southern California, Big Brothers Big Sisters of LA, among others.

During his career, he founded and directed an independent management consulting firm; oversaw public affairs and marketing for a national think‐tank; managed corporate communications for a Fortune 100 financial services company; and conducted legislative affairs for a regional transportation agency. He also served as director for a U.S. Department of Commerce initiative at USC, where he was oversaw $48 million in capital assistance and procurement for over 2000 small businesses.

He is a creative problem solver, having managed multi‐year projects funded by the U.S. Departments of Commerce, Energy, Transportation, Homeland Security, Health & Human Services, and state, county and city agencies. As a dynamic presenter and coach, Brandon has served as an adjunct instructor at USC, UCLA, CSULA and for the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Initiative. He also leads a regional collaboration with seven community colleges and over 40 businesses creating career pathways for the global trade and logistics industries.

Having served on the Executive Board of the LA Area Chamber of Commerce and Chair of its Small Business Council for the last nine years, he has also served as an LA City Commissioner examining ways to increase efficiency. Actively involved in civic affairs as the founder of NEXUS FORUMS, a nonprofit hosting policy forum, Brandon has received over 18 commendations from Congressional, state and local officials. He is a contributing columnist for ethnic publications and a current affairs commentator ‐‐ cited on CNNMoney, Inc. Magazine, the LA Times, OC Register and has appeared on NPR, KNX Radio, and the Chris Matthews Show.

Brandon has Bachelor’s Degrees in Political Science and International Relations from the University of Southern California and a Master’s Degree in Leadership and Management from the University of LaVerne; he has completed executive education at UCLA’s Anderson School of Management and is certified as a Lean Sigma Green Belt. For his service, he has been presented the Volunteer Leadership Award by the LA Chamber of Commerce, honored as Innovative Entrepreneur by the South Asian Business Network and recognized as a “Forward Thinker” by California Forward.
